Snow Gems are a dimensional glaze that creates a white, textured surface with coloured crystals. It is a non-moving glaze that can be applied using a brush or palette knife to create various textural effects and accents in your design work.
Snow Gems have a wide firing range of cones 06-10 (999°C-1305°C).
General Use
Shake well and stir before and between each application to keep crystals suspended and to achieve even crystal coverage.
Using a brush, apply 3 even coats to cone 04 earthenware or stoneware bisque, greenware, or clay.
To tint, brush one coat of Stroke & Coat®, Foundations®, or E-Z Stroke® colour of choice over the Snow Gems or mix small amounts into the product.
Allow to dry between coats. Fire to shelf cone 06-10 (999°C-1305°C) Snow Gems will perform the same at low, mid, and higher temperature firings. Testing is recommended.
Not recommended for dinnerware due to surface characteristics; decorative use only.
Snow Gems has been certified as AP Non-Toxic, safe for use by artists of all ages when used according to the manufacturer’s directions. However, Snow Gems are not recommended for dinnerware as they exhibit surface textures such as cracks and crevices that make attempts to adequately clean the textured surface difficult. While the glazed surface may pass lead & cadmium leach tests, and is therefore legally considered Food Safe, Snow Gems are recommended for ornamental use only.
